The Trip (Day 1)

My trip started at 2am in my house when I was woken up to put my bags in the car.  I had finished packing at around 1:30am, and had almost no sleep. We drove to JFK, and realized that we had gone to the wrong airport.  My flight was out of Newark.  We turned the car around to Newark, and arrived there around 4:25 am.   I said bye to my parents, and went to my gate just as boarding had started.  Boarding had started early, and I did not have to wait at the gate.  The first fight was to San Francisco. The flight was about 6 hours.  Once we arrived there I had to walk to the international terminal. I kept bumping into the people that sat next to me on the flight wherever I went. It was kind of weird, but funny at the same time. I had about an hour and a half to spare, so I decided to get a scone and muffin at the bakery next door, and sit at the gate.  Traveling was going smoothly, but since I was doing it alone it was pretty boring. I contacted some of my friends, then boarded the plane. The flight is exactly 11 hours from San Francisco to Osaka. My seat is a window seat near the back of the plane. It is pretty annoying when I have to go to the bathroom because I have to cause a lot of disruption. At this point it is basically like I am in Japan because most of the people are Japanese, and the flight attendants are all speaking Japanese. It is Golden Week in Japan, so it is a big vacation week. This year's Golden Week is especially big because the emperor just changed, so the week is extended. The entire government basically shuts down.  I was able to sleep well on the flight which is good. When I landed I was picked up by Yoshihiko (head of family) and Obaachan (grandma). We stopped for ramen on the way back. When I got home I was greeted by one of Obaachan's friend. Later Tsubasa, Ritsuki, and their father came to visit. We had a fancy dinner of sushi, tempura, and soumen. Then I video called my cousin Mira for a little. I had a full day of travelling, and am extremely tired.
