First Day of School (Day 5)

Today was my first day of school. I woke up at 6:50 am, and got dressed in my uniform. By the time I got up Shunnsuke (one of my host brothers) was out of the house to catch the 7:25 train. My breakfast was "kashi pan", sweet bread, and yogurt.  I left the house at 7:30 on my bicycle to go to school.  My host family followed me on his motorcycle to make sure that I went the right way for the first day.  He went with me all the way to the bridge when I realized that I had forgotten my gym clothes.  He went back to the house to get it, and I told him I would meet him at school.  However I when I crossed the bridge I went deep into Minoshima instead of staying on the main road for some reason.  I'm not sure exactly what I was thinking at the time, but I got their just on time at 7:57 to get my gym clothes and meet the vice principle at 8.  I am part of class 2-3 meaning second year class 3.  It was a very fun class they love to talk, and there is almost never a dull moment.  I was nervous going into the class, but everything went smoothly.  Some differences from an American high school is that the teachers come to the classrooms (except for special classes) rather than the students.  Another big difference is that all classes are attended by the same people meaning that for each class the people in the class are the same.  It was very interesting to see this.  I had just enough Japanese ability to hold up in the class which was good.  Club activities do not begin for another 2 weeks because of midterm exams.  Today was a very exciting day, and hope that I will become closer with my class in the coming months.
