Fireflies (Day 35)

This morning we had "seki gae", seat change, in school.  In the US changing seats is not a big deal and takes about 30 seconds.  However in Japan since we stay in one classroom for most of the day with the same people it is a whole ordeal.  First we have to write all of our names on a sheet of paper that has lines that lead to a number.  Then the teacher makes a grid of the classroom, and writes numbers down on each of the seats.  At the end of each line on the paper is the number placement where your seat is.  Our seats were chosen yesterday, but we were moving this morning.  I thought that I was just going to move my stuff out of my desk and move to my new seat, but it turns out that the desk that you were using is literally your desk and everyone in the class had to move their desk to the new spot.  It was a huge traffic jam, and there was barely anywhere to move when you have 41 people moving their desks at the same time.
After table tennis I went home quickly because we were going to go see fireflies by the river in a place called Taguchi.  It is up in the mountains.  There were many fireflies, and it was very beautiful.  On our way up we saw Yoshihiko on his way back.  Afterwards we went to a restaurant called Neparaya.  It is a Nepali, Indian, and Chinese restaurant.  We had ramen, gyoza (dumplings), su buta (vinegar pig), and karage (Japanese style fried chicken).  On our way back we realized that I had broken my bicycle peddle on my way home today, so we had to stop by my grandma's to pick up her bike that she doesn't use.
