Eon Mall (Day 66)

Since today is Tanabata Tusbasa, Ritsuki, and my host dad went to the "kouminkan" (recreation center) to put up tansaku after breakfast.  Every year on Tanabata one of the traditions is to put up a sheet of colored paper on bamboo with a wish.  I wished that the rest of my time left in Japan would go smoothly.  It is said that Hikoboshi and Orihime will try to grant it.  After Tanabata the bamboo is burned to reach the heavens.  Most people had already gone to put up their tansaku.

It is decorated with origami and tansakus.

My tansaku is the blue one.
After we put up the tansaku.  We dropped Tsubasa off at the train station, then went for a drive up the mountain.  It was very pretty.

Then we went to a famous ramen store called Ide shouten.  Wakayama is famous for its "tonkotsu shoyu ramen" which is a mix of pork broth and soy sauce.  It was a small, but busy restaurant that has been open for around 65 years.

Then we went to pick up Tsubasa at a convenience store because he had just finished his club.  We were going to see a movie at the eon mall.  Eon mall is one of the only malls in Wakayama.  It is fairly large and has a movie theater.  We were going to see a movie called "The Fable".  Before the movie we had time, so Tsubasa and I went shopping.  We first went to the gatcha gatcha store.  It is a store that has lots of gatcha gatchas which are capsule toy machines.  Then we went to the book store where I bought a couple of shogi books.  I also ran into Mami san and Aoto at the mall.  However I had to rush because the movie was about to start.  We were expecting it to be more of a comedy, but it ended up being more of an action and yakuza movie.  It was still very good.
